Introduction American Graphics Institute provides a range of scholarships designed to promote design and creative problem solving across many fields. Each year several awards are made available to students enrolled in accredited post-secondary undergraduate programs in the United States. Separate awards also exist specifically for students taking American Graphics Institute training courses.
Design Thinking Scholarship
- Eligible applicants: part-time and full-time students enrolled in degree programs at any accredited U.S. college or university.
- Award amount: $1,000.
- Frequency: awarded annually in August.
- Submission deadline: July 31 (submissions are reviewed for the next available award).
- Application requirement: a 500–1,500 word essay explaining how you expect design thinking or digital design tools to affect you and your chosen career. The essay title must indicate how design thinking or design tools influence you or your career. Entries are submitted online.
Training (Certificate) Scholarship
- Eligible applicants: students enrolled in, or scheduled to enroll in, American Graphics Institute Certificate programs at the time of application.
- Award amount: $500.
- Application requirement: a 500–1,500 word essay describing how learning digital design applications (for example, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) will support your career goals. You may choose your own essay title, but it must reflect how a specific digital design tool or digital design tools in general will contribute to your career. Applications are submitted through AGI’s online portal.
General Eligibility and Rules All applicants must comply with the following requirements and the full scholarship terms and conditions:
- For the Design Thinking Scholarship, applicants must be currently enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited two- or four-year college or university in the United States at the time of application.
- Only one scholarship application per person is permitted during each scholarship period.
- Winners must be U.S. legal residents or hold a valid student visa.
- A completed scholarship application form must be submitted for consideration.
- Scholarships are void where prohibited by law.
- Winners are chosen solely by the American Graphics Institute scholarship committee. Scholarship recipients are contacted approximately two weeks after the submission deadline — in mid-January and mid-September of each year.
