A student may receive funds for up to three years of undergraduate study and two years of graduate study; the total maximum cumulative award is $12,000.

Who is eligible

  • Be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or an eligible non‑citizen; register with the Selective Service if that requirement applies.
  • Have been a Louisiana resident for at least one year before July 1 of the year the scholarship is awarded.
  • Provide all documentary evidence requested by the Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance (LOSFA).
  • Be enrolled full time at a Louisiana public college or university, majoring in forestry, wildlife, or marine science and actively working toward a degree in one of those fields.
    • Undergraduate applicants must have completed at least 60 college credit hours and hold a minimum cumulative college GPA of 2.50.
    • Graduate applicants must maintain a minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA on all graduate‑level credits.

Renewal and continued eligibility To keep the scholarship from year to year, recipients must meet these conditions:

  • Total award time cannot exceed five academic years (a maximum of three academic years as an undergraduate and two academic years as a graduate student).
  • By the end of the academic year (spring term), undergraduate recipients must have earned at least 24 credit hours during the fall, winter and spring terms at institutions that define full‑time undergraduate status as 12 semester hours or 8 quarter hours. Graduate recipients must have earned at least 18 total credit hours during those terms at institutions that define full‑time graduate status as 9 semester hours.
  • End each academic year with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.50 for undergraduates or 3.00 for graduate students.
  • Maintain continuous full‑time enrollment unless LOSFA grants an exception.
  • Continue to pursue a degree program in forestry, wildlife, or marine science.

If you have questions about documentation, residency verification, or exceptions to continuous enrollment, contact the Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance for guidance.
