AAUW Delaware Scholarships

Established in 1881, the American Association of University Women (AAUW) was created with the mission of "bringing together alumnae from various institutions for practical educational endeavors." The Wilmington Branch of the AAUW, in line with the broader objective of expanding opportunities for women, annually grants scholarships of diverse amounts to women seeking a baccalaureate or graduate degree from an accredited university or college. The Wilmington Branch of the AAUW has a rich history of supporting women's education, having awarded its first scholarship in 1914 and continuing to do so every year since.
For a woman to qualify as a new scholar, she must be a US citizen and meet one of the following criteria:
She must be a resident of New Castle County, Delaware, with a high school diploma, or
She must be a resident of New Castle County, Delaware, and a senior at a public or private high school or home-schooled in New Castle County who fulfills the University of Delaware's admission criteria.
The scholarships are applicable solely towards tuition, are granted for a single year, and are awarded based on several factors: academic standing, financial need, contributions to the school and community, and standardized test results. These scholarships can be renewed.
