Kevin Child Scholarship

Introduction
Kevin Child, who was born in the late 1960s and died of AIDS-related complications in 1989—one month before he would have completed college—left a lasting mark on his family and community. To honor his memory and to recognize the educational obstacles faced by people living with hemophilia, the Child family created the Kevin Child Scholarship in 1990. The scholarship provides a $1,000 award to support U.S. students with hemophilia A or B as they pursue post-secondary education.
Who may apply
- Applicants must be diagnosed with hemophilia A or hemophilia B.
- Eligible candidates include high school seniors planning to enroll in a college, university, or vocational-technical program, as well as students already enrolled in a post-secondary institution and working toward a degree or certificate.

Applications are accepted by email only. Submit your completed application to jangarola@bleeding.org by June 5, 2026. About the award
The Kevin Child Scholarship has been awarded annually since 1990 and relies entirely on gifts from private donors. Each year the scholarship is granted in memory of Kevin Child to help ease the financial burden on students with hemophilia who are working toward higher education.
