Hana Uno Shepard Memorial Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Greater Los Angeles Chapter of Japanese American League
Overview
Each year GLA awards the Hana Uno Shepard Memorial Scholarship to support a graduating high school senior. The award can be used at any accredited college, university, community college, fine arts institution, or vocational school. In addition to the scholarship, the recipient receives four years of JACL student membership provided by GLA.
Eligibility
Applicants must meet all of the following:
- Be a graduating high school senior.
- Demonstrate a strong academic record.
- Come from a single-parent household.
- Be of Japanese descent.
- Reside in Los Angeles County or Orange County.
Application timeline
The application process opens in February. Completed applications must be submitted by May 1.
How to obtain the application
You can get the GLA application in any of these three ways:
- Ask your high school counseling office; they may have copies on hand.
- Fill out the Google Form version.
- Download or print a document version of the application.
How to submit your application
Choose one of these submission methods:
- Complete the paper form and email it to greaterlajacl@gmail.com.
- Submit directly using the Google Form.
- Request a postal mailing address by contacting greaterlajacl@gmail.com if you prefer to send materials through the mail.
