BIACS Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Bluegrass Indo-American Civic Society
Introduction
Since its founding in 1988, the Bluegrass Indo-American Civic Society (BIACS) has supported Kentucky’s graduating high school seniors heading to college with more than $450,000 in scholarship awards. What began as a single $1,000 scholarship in 1988 has expanded significantly; by 2025 BIACS awarded 29 scholarships.
Award details
BIACS distributes cash scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $3,000. Recipients are honored at the Annual BIACS Awards Banquet held in Lexington, KY. The program includes both merit-based and need-based awards. For 2026 BIACS is pleased to add a scholarship specifically for students who plan to enroll in a community college.
Toyota Scholars (current year)
This year BIACS will name four to six students as Toyota scholars. Each Toyota scholar will receive a cash award of either $1,000 or $1,500. To be eligible, applicants must satisfy all of the scholarship criteria listed below and intend to pursue an Engineering major in college.
Eligibility and requirements
Applicants must meet the scholarship requirements outlined below (academic, residency, and any other stated criteria). For the Toyota scholar awards, declaring Engineering as the intended college major is mandatory.
