We are pleased to help you advance your education. If you want to be considered for the Modoc Post-Secondary Scholarship, please confirm you meet the eligibility rules and review the award information and program requirements below.
Eligibility
- You must be an enrolled member of the Modoc Nation for at least one full calendar year.
- You must have a high school diploma or GED.
- You cannot have any outstanding balances owed to any previously attended institution of higher education.
Important: The Modoc Nation will fund only one degree, diploma, or vocational certificate per student.
Available Awards (per semester)
- Bachelor’s level: $9,500 per semester, up to 8 semesters
- Graduate programs: $7,500 per semester, up to 4 semesters
- Ph.D. programs or J.D.: $7,500 per semester, up to 6 semesters
- Medical Doctor (M.D.) programs: $7,500 per semester, up to 8 semesters
- Vocational/technical trade programs: $6,000 per semester
Program Rules and Conditions
- No funding is provided for summer sessions.
- If a student fails to meet the scholarship’s minimum standards, they will be suspended from the program. To be considered for reinstatement, the student must enroll and successfully complete at least 12 credits with a minimum 2.0 GPA in a specified semester/term; that semester/term must be completed without financial support from the Modoc Nation.
- Only one degree or one vocational certificate/degree will be funded.
- All awards are provisional and require Tribal approval. Payments are not guaranteed until a check is issued.
- Applications received or postmarked after the deadline will be denied and returned.
- Every applicant must file for the Pell Grant (free at www.fafsa.ed.gov). Applying for the Pell Grant does not affect eligibility for, or the amount of, the Modoc scholarship.
- Funding decisions and program rules from the Modoc Nation’s Education Department may change at any time.
Part-time Award Option
- Part-time students (6–11 credits) may be eligible for $2,000 per semester or $1,333.34 per term, provided they verify employment of at least 20 hours per week and submit proof of work hours. These part-time semesters/terms count toward the student’s total allowable award semesters/terms.
