Introduction The Estevez Group, PC is dedicated to supporting individuals in crisis, with a focus on immigration matters such as family-based petitions, naturalization, and marriage-based green cards. To further this mission, we are launching the Hope for Humanity Scholarship to support undergraduate and graduate students who collaborate with nonprofit organizations to improve their communities. One recipient will receive a $1,000 award to assist with educational expenses.

Who may apply (Eligibility) The scholarship is open to undergraduate and graduate students who meet the following conditions:

  • Minimum age: 17 years old.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Currently pursuing (or actively seeking) an internship or research placement with a nonprofit organization.
  • Demonstrated commitment to human rights shown through academic work, volunteer activities, or activism.
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0. Candidates with a GPA below 3.0 may still be considered if they exhibit substantial non-academic contributions to humanitarian causes.

Application materials and submission format Please submit your essay in either .docx or .PDF format. In addition to the essay, include each of the following as separate attachments:

  • A current resume outlining academic accomplishments, volunteer service, activism, and other pertinent experience.
  • A confirmation letter from the nonprofit where you will intern or conduct research.
  • One letter of recommendation from a professor, employer, or mentor attesting to your dedication to human-rights work.
  • Documentation verifying enrollment status and your most recent GPA.

Essay requirement (approx. 500 words) Provide a typed response of roughly 500 words addressing the following: Describe how your personal experiences have influenced your commitment to human rights, and explain how you intend to effect change in one of the scholarship’s focus areas through your internship or in your future career.

How submissions will be judged and timeline Essays will be evaluated based on:

  • The depth and persuasiveness of your personal narrative.
  • The clarity and feasibility of your plan to drive change.
  • The essay’s relevance to current human-rights challenges.

After the application deadline, our scholarship committee will need about one month to review entries and notify the selected recipient.
