Introduction
Faith Hope and Love Jesus, Inc. is pleased to offer two annual college scholarships of $500 each for survivors of childhood cancer or childhood blood disorders. The essay component should be at least 500 words — and it’s intentionally flexible: you may write about any topic you choose. We want applicants to enjoy the writing process, so pick a subject that matters to you. Electronic submissions must be sent to scholarships@faithhopeandlovejesus.org by May 1st. Winners are announced every year on August 1st.
Who is eligible
- Survivors of cancer or a blood disorder whose diagnosis occurred before their 18th birthday.
- Applicants must be U.S. citizens (this program is currently limited to U.S. citizens due to available resources).
- Both incoming college freshmen and students already enrolled in college may apply.
Required application materials (all three items must be included)
1. Essay (minimum 500 words) saved as a PDF. Include a cover page with:
- Full name
- Mailing address
- Phone number
- Email address
2. School documentation (one of the following):
- Acceptance letter (for incoming freshmen), OR
- Official or unofficial transcript (for currently enrolled students), OR
- A letter on school letterhead from the registrar’s office (acceptable for any applicant)
3. Medical documentation on doctor or clinic letterhead confirming a history of cancer or a blood disorder diagnosed before age 18. The letter must include the applicant’s date of birth and date of diagnosis.
Application process and notes
- Send all materials electronically in PDF format to scholarships@faithhopeandlovejesus.org.
- Once we have received all three required documents, we will email you a confirmation.
- Essays and supporting materials will not be returned.
- Submissions received after the May 1st deadline will not be considered.
- The scholarship application window reopens each year on August 2nd.
Selection, announcement, and award disbursement
- Scholarship recipients are announced on August 1st and their winning essays will be posted to our website on that date.
- Scholarship funds are paid after completion of the fall semester. At that time, recipients must provide an official or unofficial transcript to receive payment.
